Coverings

There are no shortage of greenhouse covers on the market and we have used several different flavors throughout the years. For the past several years, we predominantly utilize two covering options which have very nicely met all customer’s needs.

Solarig is the strongest woven poly available and is made from puncture and tear-resistant woven polyethylene cloth which features IR, anti-drip, UV block and light diffusion properties. Solarig is available in different weights but we only use the heaviest weight which is 182. You can expect a 10-year (or more) life with Solarig 182.

Solexx 5mm (not 5 mil) covering is engineered to help you grow bigger, healthier plants while cutting energy costs. Its twin-wall design traps heat for better insulation, while diffuse light promotes faster and more even growth. Built tough with UV protection, Solexx is made to last—so you can enjoy more harvests and fewer repair costs for years to come. There are reports of Solexx lasting 20+ years.

We also occasionally use 6 mil clear poly which is the most popular covering on the market due to the low cost and decent life span. Also, polycarbonate (sheets and twin wall) is occasionally used on the greenhouse end walls if there is a desire to see in or out of the end walls.
