Gothic / Hoop / Lean-to

Each greenhouse “shape” has it’s own advantages and possibly disadvantages. Cost effect is the hoop shape but may not be the best option if wanting a fairly wide (16’+) greenhouse if living in a heavy snow area and do not want to be clearing off heavy snow dumps or removing the cover each Fall. A lean-to is a great option if you are tight on space and/or want the greenhouse to have direct access to another building. Gothic is the most popular and wins in the esthetics department (IMHO), gives more options for hanging items, more access to vertical growing, allows for a window at each end at the peak (great for heat removal) and snow load is not really an issue. With the previous stated, we build all of our greenhouses with the assumption that winds can and will be quite high.
