Heating / Cooling
Interested in growing year-round, eking-out a few weeks on both ends of the season or perhaps you want to grow some delicate flower species? For the small to smallish greenhouses, often times a plug-in ceramic heater (think Lowe’s/Home Depot) is all that is needed to keep those late Spring/early Fall nights temps above 40F. For larger greenhouses, it is usually cost effective to go with a propane or natural gas furnace/heater.
In addition to heating, cooling is equally important to prevent overheating during warmer months. Proper ventilation, shading, and automated cooling systems can help maintain optimal temperatures. Implementing roll-up sides, evaporative cooling system, and exhaust fans can enhance airflow, while shading nets or reflective materials can reduce heat buildup. By combining effective heating and cooling strategies, you can create a stable environment that supports healthy plant growth throughout the year.
